How to Use Snapchat, Even If It’s Wrong for Your Organization

Snapchat has been the talk of the town on social media for some time now, among other things that have popped up recently, like Pokemon Go and Stephen Colbert getting kicked out of the Republican National Convention.

Until now, it probably hasn’t made a whole lot of sense for your nonprofit organization to download Snapchat because you don’t have the right audience to be reached via Snapchat; however, what I’ve found is that Snapchat is a vital asset — not to build a huge following with — but rather to be a follower.

Just as in life, often times the best leaders, know how to follow. It’s just like Lord Commander, Jeor Mormont tells Jon Snow in Season Two of Game of Thrones, “You want to lead one day? Well, learn how to follow.”

By following other organizations, large and small, you get a raw, inside look — if you’re paying attention — at other nonprofit culture, marketing tactics and more. After following organizations’ Snapchat accounts, I started getting ideas of things I’d like to implement or do more of at Nonprofit Hub. Make note of not just how they’re using Snapchat, but what they’re showing in their Snapchats.

After some careful primary research (some may call it procrastinating), here are my top nonprofits on Snapchat.
